Wow, that is fantastic! Looks quite similar to traditional Selkup (Siberia) winter houses. Would be interesting to hear how it's working in winter time. :-)

Pretty close to a Kobuk River eskimo lodge, but without a false floor or sleeping bench..............yet? I'm sure your getting the interior fixxed up

Peeling the Birch like that does not kill the tree. Birch bark Kayaks, and basketry was practised haere along Kobuk River, and we still get Birch bark for makeing baskets today. Often you can see...

Very nice, thank you for sharing, back when I had property to use (my grandfathers farm) I started work on a smaller version but never finished it, not enough small trees to cut on the place.

I really did enjoy the pictures. Very similar type of shelter is described in Arctic Manual, including the cold air sink entrance. It (or some other Steffanson book) also says that it is much quicker...
